A few QMDRA members over the last couple of years have talked about including a technical section within the QMDRA site. The main objective was to provide some answers to common questions; including the simple stuff no-one likes to ask! The fact is, everyone has to start somewhere, so we hope this Tech page will provide you with some answers, tips and hints that will assist you in getting the most enjoyment out of your car and RC Drag Racing!
The first topic is about how to build a Battery Discharger capable of discharging your Electric Car main cells at 20 amps or more! This topic is not for everyone, but for those interested it is a cost effective way to making an efficient discharger to maintain the peak performance and consistency of your car during a race meeting (assuming you have a charger with quick charge capabilities). I picked this topic because at the time of writing, I was looking for a Charger to suit my needs at the track. I found a great 'value for money' charger with good charge capabilities, but it could only discharge at a maximum of 1 amp. Without having to spend a couple of hundred bucks, I solved my problem by making my own discharger. This is how I did it!
